NOTICE OF RATE INCREASE

As most of you know, Rural Water District #4 purchases our water from the City of Sallisaw.  Each year, we sign a contract with them to continue providing water to us.  Usually, those contracts include a rate increase to us.  Sallisaw voted to increase our rate by 4.5% per 1,000 gallons of water they sell to us.

Over the past several years, we have worked to keep from passing those annual increases to our members.  We have not experienced a rate increase since February 2022.

We have been able to reduce some of the district’s operating costs including more efficient lighting in the office and updating our telephone service to the more cost effective service provided by Cookson Hills Connect / Electric.  We also work to obtain the best prices on the parts and supplies we use to keep the system running at all times.

Unfortunately, this year….with rising costs of parts, supplies and fuel added in….the board of directors has voted to increase some of our rates to meet the overall Sallisaw increase of 4.5% per 1,000 gallons of water.

The minimum rate of $27.00 for residential and agricultural members will increase by $1.00 to $28.00.  This increase is actually less than the 4.5% increase.  The minimum rates for commercial members will not increase; only the per 1,000 gallon usage rates.

The per 1,000 gallon rates for all members will increase by 4.5%.  The increases range from $0.56 for residential members using between 1,001 and 10,000 gallons in a month to $0.70 for commercial members using over 15,001 per 1,000 gallons in a month.

The new membership fees have not increased.

The rate increases will go into effect with the next bills that will be due by July 10th.
